About the Department
The Department of Economics established in 2022, focuses on developing a solid foundation in economics principles, a sharp understanding of global developments and a range of analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. The program provides a good balance of broad-based economic fundamentals and practical real-industry knowledge. The department equips students with analytical tools of economics to understand the current economic reality with the perspective of problem solving and enhances economic welfare and promotes social justice.In the future, the department will offer Post-graduation and Ph.D. courses.

I'm Lakshmi A, working as an Assistant Professor in this Institution from June 2023 for handling Economics as various Department like Economics, Commerce and etc., with best of my skill. I possess a variety of base skill from my specialization of Ph.D., (2016) under University of Madras, its knowledge that would be of great benefits to gaining myself from this institution. It could be great opportunity for me to continue building on my teaching as well as research experience while gaining exposure to a large availability as same.
By the strong foundation of my Subject would helped me to successfully engage and consolidate multiple number of research and publication also. Herewith, I’m confident they will allow me to continue to make sound decision as an assistant professor to any greater than the job. Behalf the responsibility of this profession taking on role model in my career with increase my ability also. I am excited to potentially join this excellent work.
- I was finished my Master Degree at Economics in 2004, University of Madras at Muthurangam Govt., Arts & Science College, and Vellore District.
- Furtherly, I completed M. Phil in 2008, Annamalai University
- Lastly, my efficient eligibility skill in Doctrine as same in Economics that the period of 2009-2014 under University of Madras through by Presidency College and awarded 2016.
- And I expertise so many field like typing, computer basic to cyber, sports etc., it brings me a dynamic role as to play different sectors experience. In that industry, I worked as a (a) Management Representative and (b) Lead Auditor in Quality Management System (QMS) for ISO.

- I am Presented International Conference on Development vs Deprivation in the Era of Globalization held on Dec. 2009, University of Kerala, and Trivandram. Topic of "Gloabalisation aspects of Technology Advancement as a key to increase Inequality".
- National level Seminar on my College, conducted by PG & Research Department of Economics, Presidency College (Autonomous), "Current Challenges in Integration of Transport Network in India", held on Mar 2010.
- State level workshop on 'Academic Writing', held on 29 to 30 May 2011, PSG College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore and conducted by Association of Economists of Tamil Nadu (AET).
- One Journal Publication entitled by "Women Entrepreneurship - Achievements and Challenges in Tamil Nadu, Oct 2013.

Abstract [+]
In the past few decades women have taken rapid strides in every field one could imagine women have held the highest offices in the country and have served with dignity and success. They have persevered in the roughest and most demanding of professions and achieved results which have surprised the whole world. And India has many women entrepreneurs who have proved their mettle and have taken the country by storm. Women have been performing exceedingly well in different spheres of activities like academics, politics, administration, social work and so on. They have started plunging into industry also and running their enterprise successfully. Now women have emerged as an important part of industrial growth. To achieve equal status with men, women have to come out of their traditional roles and responsibilities and have to create an identity for themselves, assuming a variety of functions. To make this dream a reality, women have to consider their labour as not drudgery but a delight, Economic empowerment refers to earning power, collective bargaining for economic gains, control over means of production, involvement in decision-making regarding economic aspects of development of skills in management. Economic empowerment implies a process of redistribution of resources and power between different groups. It helps in building confidence, self- assertion and courage, in this juncture the present paper made an attempt to map out the attainments and challenges of women entrepreneur in Tamil Nadu. |
